Terms of Service

Signal is in beta. The app is under active development. Features may change or break, and while we take care of your data, you should not rely on Signal as the only place a piece of content exists. Use it, tell us what breaks, and keep anything irreplaceable elsewhere too.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Signal ("we", "us") governing your use of the Signal desktop app for Mac, the Signal Capture browser extension, and the related website and services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service
Signal is a personal reading board for Mac. It lets you follow feeds and capture items — such as X bookmarks, YouTube Watch Later videos, Pinterest boards, RSS feeds, and pages saved through the extension — into your own account, and read them in one place. It is for your own personal, non-commercial use.
Beta status
- The Service is provided during a beta period on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
- We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time, and there may be interruptions, bugs, or data loss.
- We do not offer any uptime guarantee or service-level commitment during the beta.
Your account
- You must provide an accurate email address and keep your password secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live (at least 16, or the age of digital consent in your country).
- Tell us promptly at simon.keane@gmail.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for anything unlawful, or to infringe anyone's rights.
- Attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure.
- Use the Service to build a competing product, or resell or redistribute it.
- Capture or store content you do not have the right to save, or in a way that breaks the terms of the site it came from (for example X, YouTube, or Pinterest).
Your content
The feeds you follow and the items you capture are yours. You keep all rights to them. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the Service for you — to store, process, sync, and display your content back to you in your account. We do not claim ownership of your content, and we do not use it to train models, target advertising, or share with third parties. See the Privacy Policy for details.
You are responsible for the content you save and for having the right to save it.
Third-party services
Signal captures content from third-party services (such as X, YouTube, Pinterest, and RSS sources) and relies on infrastructure providers (such as Supabase). Your use of those third-party services remains subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them or for changes they make that affect Signal.
Pricing and paid features
Signal is free to use during the beta. Paid "Pro" features are planned for a later release; when they arrive, their pricing and terms will be presented to you before you are charged, and continued use of free features will remain free. Nothing on the marketing site should be read as a binding price during the beta.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content will be preserved without loss.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy for how). We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service or its users.
Changes to these Terms
If we change these Terms in a material way, we will post the updated version here with a new date. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and any dispute will be subject to the courts of Ireland, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
